Environmental Scientist/Technician
Biohabitats, a leading conservation planning, ecological restoration, regenerative design, and construction firm is seeking an environmental scientist / technician with a solid foundation in the principles of environmental science. With Bioregion offices nationwide, Biohabitats works throughout the country and internationally with public, private, and non-profit organizations to restore the earth and inspire ecological stewardship.
This entry-level position will support project managers, project technical leads and other team members on a variety of projects, including ecological restoration master planning; stream, floodplain, and wetland restoration; shoreline restoration; and stormwater management retrofitting.

Roles:
Conducting a wide range of natural resources and watershed inventories and assessments, including stream assessments, wetland delineations and forest stand delineations.
Supporting seasonal field monitoring, including benthic sampling, electrofishing, groundwater well maintenance, soil sampling, stream survey, etc.
Performing stormwater management facility maintenance inspections.
Compiling, analyzing, and reporting on desktop and field data using a variety of software, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- ·Producing maps and conducting desktop analysis using ArcGIS.
·Supporting production of plan sets for ecological restoration design projects (e.g., CAD drafting, printing, assembly, submittal, etc.).
·Providing other technical project support as needed.
Required Skills:
- Ability to support or lead field assessments under a variety of weather and site conditions
Experience with or exposure to stream, wetland, and forest assessments.
Proficiency in the use of the ESRI Suite of Products including ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, specifically Word and Excel.
Ability to work both collaboratively in a team environment and independently.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Helpful Skills:
Understanding of plant taxonomy, soil science, and hydrology.
Experience with fluvial geomorphologic assessment and surveys.
Experience with biological sampling.
- Experience with
wetland and forest stand delineation.
Understanding of Federal, state, and local environmental permitting.
Familiarity with the use of AutoCAD for the development of design plans.
Education:· B.S. or M.S. in relevant environmental field (e.g., Applied Ecology, Biology, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Geology, etc.)
